The Sheffield Traitors: How would your degree do in the game of deception?

The Traitors is officially back on our television screens, with Claudia Winkleman now subjecting celebrities to the ultimate game of deception.

But, have you ever wondered – what if Claudia brought the game to Sheffield universities? Keep reading to see how we think your degree would perform!

Journalism

The journalism student would beg Claudia to be a traitor, only not to get chosen. This motivates them to use their investigative powers for good, becoming the ultimate faithful. Maybe they’re conducting interviews with the other contestants to try to find a lie, or analysing changes in peoples’ behaviour. Ultimately, they would be seen as too much of a threat by the traitors and meet their end being murdered in the night.

Medicine

Medics would want to be a faithful. They’ve got too much going on to worry about being a traitor, and their inner sense of wanting to help people would emerge. However, they would end up targeted at the round table for being too smart – think Kas from Season 3.

History

The historians take on the role of someone seen as a guaranteed faithful, because of their good reads at the round table, involvement in challenges, and calm energy around the castle. I think the traitors would end up exploiting this, and recruit them about midway through the game. This means they wouldn’t get much suspicion, and ultimately either win or get very close.

Criminology

Criminology think they would be the perfect faithful, able to look for clues and evidence. But, deep down, they want to be a traitor, and they are chosen from the start. After they recruit history to be a traitor, hoping for the ultimate partnership. They are turned on and banished about three quarters of the way into the game.

Politics

I think politics is first out at the round table. They end up doing too much in a challenge, take on too much of a high profile, and become the first faithful to be banished.

Psychology

On the other hand, psychology might just be the first murder. They’re very proud to be faithful, and boast about their skills in analysing people, which spooks the traitors. In the end, their death may have been for nothing, because their theories were loud and wrong, focusing too much on personality analysis than hard evidence.

Law

Law is a great debater at the round table, which causes them to be a strong leader amongst the faithfuls, bringing up theories and heading alliances. This is threatening to the traitors, as they have too much power and sway. This leads law to be murdered at the halfway point of the game.

Music

Music are picked as a traitor from the start, as Claudia thinks their ability to perform will make them a good traitor. Claudia’s instinct ends up being wrong, as they do a bit too much and buckle under the pressure. Music is the first traitor to be banished when the other traitors are forced to turn on them.

Biochemistry

This is a very calculated faithful. They come in with a game plan of following herd mentality at first, hoping to blend in so they aren’t an early murder. They hope to bring up their theories later in the game once they are established as faithful, but end up accused of being too quiet, causing banishment.

Engineering

Engineering is a faithful, but one that relies on an alliance, hoping that the group decisions keep them safe. However, they get murdered by the traitors to target the fellow members of their alliance.

Philosophy

Philosophy sees themselves as the perfect traitor. They think they will be able to understand peoples’ motivations for their actions. But, they end up closer to a Linda-style traitor, over-analysing their perception to an unrealistic degree.

English

English is recruited as a traitor late in the game. They get banished just before the finale, unwilling to turn on their fellow traitor – who has already decided to throw all the blame at them.

Physics

Physics is always happy to propose their theories at the round table. This is ultimately their downfall, when they point some accusations at an actual traitor, who murders them in the night the next day.
