The SSN reported that there were two microearthquakes in Naucalpan this Monday morning, which left no damage in the area.
Mexico City, December 1 (However).- The National Seismological Service (SSN) reported that during the morning of this Monday, two microseisms in Naucalpan de Juárez, State of Mexico (Edomex)which occurred a few seconds apart and with low intensity.
The authorities detailed that the first microseism It took place at 09:05 a.m. with a magnitude of 1.7, while the second occurred at 09:06 a.m. with a magnitude of 1.1.
Both shared an epicenter at coordinates 19.46 latitude and -99.22 longitude, with a depth of one kilometer. The technical information allowed both events to be classified as minor earthquakes, generally imperceptible to the population.

So far, the local government of Naucalpan has not reported material damage or incidents related to the microearthquakes.
This morning’s telluric movements were added to the activity reported on November 20, when the SSN documented three microseisms in a row in Naucalpan during the afternoon, which occurred a few minutes apart and presented depths similar to those observed this Monday.
On that occasion, the authorities indicated that the first incident was recorded at 4:36 p.m. with a magnitude of 2.3, and with an epicenter close to coordinates 19.45 latitude and -99.25 longitude. After the phenomenon, residents of the area commented that the earthquake was felt briefly, although they associated it with a jerk characteristic of surface movements.

Minutes later, the SSN reported a second microseism of magnitude 2.5 at 4:43 p.m. and a third of magnitude 1.6 at 4:45 p.m., both with an epicenter in Naucalpan. However, on that occasion, the authorities reiterated that none of these events caused damage and that seismic monitoring remains active in the region.
What is a microseism?
The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) explained that microseisms correspond to low-energy movements that rarely cause structural damage. However, they represent a relevant part of seismic monitoring, since they help identify the activity of active geological faults in urban regions.

Given these alerts, Civil Protection (PC) recommended that the population remain calm in case of seismic activity, and review the safety conditions in homes and work spaces. In addition, he asked to remain attentive to reports from the SSN and official statements from local authorities. In turn, he called for the identification of evacuation routes and protection protocols against possible earthquakes of greater intensity.
