The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the government of Sudan condemns in the strongest terms what it described as “the horrific terrorist crimes committed by the Rapid Support militia in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.”
It confirmed, in a statement issued at dawn on Tuesday, that the Rapid Support Forces “have committed and continue to commit racist killings and systematic terrorization against defenseless civilians, including women, children and the elderly, in shocking scenes that their perpetrators document with pride and insolence, revealing their criminal nature that specializes in bloodshed and terrorism,” according to what was stated in the statement.
She added that what she described as the “Al Daglo terrorist militia” planned “this genocide by besieging El Fasher and starving its population for two and a half years, to culminate today in a horrific massacre that will be added to the militia’s black record of atrocities and violations extending from the city of El Geneina to the villages and countrysides of Jazira State.”

It stated that the Sudanese government repeatedly warned the international community of the danger of silence and inaction, and demanded the implementation of Security Council Resolution No. (2736) of 2024, but the absence of international political will enabled what the statement described as “the terrorist militia and gave it the green light to defy international laws and divine religions and to continue taking lives, destroying cities, and desecrating honorable people.”
She considered that what she described as “the politicization of the crisis and the bias of some countries towards their political and economic interests, instead of taking a moral and humanitarian stance, directly caused the El Fasher massacre.”
Proof: We will win
Earlier, the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, said that the Sudanese people and the armed forces will be victorious, stressing that the assessment of the leadership in El Fasher was to leave the city because of the systematic destruction it had been subjected to.
Al-Burhan added, in a televised speech, that “our forces are capable of achieving victory, turning the tables, and reclaiming the lands,” adding, “We are determined to take revenge for all our martyrs.” The Sudanese army commander said, “We are determined to cleanse the country of mercenaries and avenge our martyrs.”

It is noteworthy that the Rapid Support Forces announced on Sunday morning their control of El Fasher, after a siege that lasted more than a year.
After the Rapid Support announced its control of El Fasher, this may mean extending its influence over all five states of Darfur, and dividing the country between an east controlled by the army, and a west under the control of the Rapid Support.
Sudanese military sources told Al Jazeera that the Sudanese army evacuated the division headquarters in El Fasher for “tactical reasons.”
Since April 15, 2023, the army and the Rapid Support Forces have been waging a war that many regional and international mediations have not succeeded in ending. During it, about 20,000 people were killed and more than 15 million displaced and refugees were displaced, according to international and local reports, while a study prepared by American universities estimated the death toll at about 130,000.
