As if Coronation Street’s grooming storyline couldn’t get any more disturbing, fans think they’ve worked out the next twist in the tale for Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) and Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).

Will Driscoll moved to Weatherfield at the beginning of November when his family took over the Rovers Return, though he wasn’t very happy about leaving his life in Hull behind.

Having been on a school trip when the family initially moved, Will left everyone in a panic when he failed to show up at the new house.

Eventually, sports coach Megan brought him home, where he made it clear that he didn’t want to live in Weatherfield.

He was so adamant about it that Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) was very close to allowing him to spend weekdays at a friend’s house, so he could still go to his old school and train with Megan for his athletics.

However, Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) were both equally appalled by the idea, and came up with a plan to keep Will firmly in Weatherfield.

They agreed that Maggie would pay Megan to come to Manchester a couple of times a week to train Will one-on-one, so that he could still keep his athletics up to scratch while also living somewhere they could keep an eye on him.

Little did they know, this was actually the worst thing they could possibly have done, as it had been revealed to viewers that Megan has been grooming Will.

It transpired that he kept running back to Hull because he’d wanted to be with her, and she had told him that she didn’t want to try to make long-distance work.

Megan was on board with Maggie’s plan, and eventually things escalated, with Megan landing a job at Will’s school.

Will is convinced that he and Megan are in love, and hasn’t taken well to Megan’s idea of ‘staying under the radar’.

Megan, knowing that what she is doing with underage Will is not only morally reprehensible but illegal too, has been entertaining the idea of seeing Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), who is clearly into her.

Now, Corrie fans think they have worked out the direction this storyline will take, and it’s pretty grim.

‘Imagine if Megan and Daniel get together and Megan becomes pregnant with Will’s baby. That would really complicate things,’ Corrie fan Ryan wrote on Twitter/X.

On a Facebook fan page, another eagle-eyed viewer had the same thought, writing: ‘Anyone else notice the look on the coach’s face and touch her tummy in The Rovers? Could she be pregnant?’

‘I think she’ll get pregnant when she sleeps with Will,’ another theorised.

In upcoming scenes, Will’s family prepare to throw a surprise party for his 16th birthday, unaware that he has made his own plans.

After Will slips Megan a hotel room key, the pair spend the afternoon together at the Chariot Square, and eventually end up in bed.

Meanwhile, Maggie tries to call Will and the family grows concerned when he doesn’t pick up.

When Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) mentions that he saw Will going into the hotel, the family are bewildered.

At the hotel, Will and Megan’s dalliance is brought to an abrupt halt when someone starts banging on the door, and they’re horrified to realise that it’s Ben.

Whether or not they will be caught out remains to be seen, but could the fans be onto something with their predictions of how things will end?

Other fans think, if Megan is pregnant, the baby might not be Will’s, with one saying:’No, it’ll end up being Daniel’s.’

Is a pregnancy set to turn lives upside down and expose Megan as a predator? Would she lie and make out that the baby is Daniel’s if it did turn out to be Will’s? Or are we on the wrong track completely?

One of the few people who does know where this story is heading is actress Beth Nixon.

‘I guess you kind of have to know the story arc for a character like this,’ she said. ‘You’ve got to make a decision about whether you want to play that role.

‘My agent spoke to me and said, “This is a dark storyline. Are you comfortable playing it?” And obviously, you do think about it before you say yes, but it’s such a complex character and such a deep storyline that, as an actor, it’s just a dream to play. Because it’s so gritty, and it’s a real-life issue as well.’
