The people have spoken, calling out the names of their favourite BNOCs. There were nearly 80 nominations, accompanied by stories of excessive networking and general campus infamy. Those with the most nominations have been selected for the heats – three exhilarating rounds of voting to decide who will go forward to the final of The Bristol Tab’s BNOC of the Year 2025. So don’t fret if your favourite campus celebrity isn’t on here – they might appear in the next round.
The first round will contain three nominees – a TikTok legend, an empowering activist, and a UBTV star. You probably know them already, but here’s a refresher:
Jude Daniel Smith – third year UoB
A dedicated campaigner in areas such as climate justice and environmental education, Jude is well known around Bristol, despite being loyal to his Sheffield roots. Being described as a “Bristol-wide legend”, Jude apparently claims that his favourite time of day is the 10 minutes between lectures because he sees everyone he knows.
This Bristol microcelebrity is actioning real change, when he isn’t helping to run the Wild Swimming Society, or “scooting around campus waving at people”. Will he be your BNOC of the year?
Honor Wolstencroft – final year UoB
Honor boasts a TikTok following of over 9,000 people, with a like count of 2.4 million. Perhaps you know her for her peas on toast delicacy (or atrocity), or her day in the life videos, posted like clockwork every day. Honor has also been committed to The Bristol Tab, being our TikTok Editor and showing the world how grim a first year flat can really be.
By nominators, Honor has been described as an “icon” and “peas on toast girl”. Honor will be leaving Bristol next year, but will you crown her BNOC of the year before she goes?
Oli May – second year UoB
Described by peers as an “icon of UBTV”, Oli is an on-screen and off-screen legend, known for his roles in hits such as uncovering Wills Hall and attempting to stay in the ASS for 24 hours. Whilst having only just finished first year, Oli has already achieved vice presidency of Bristol’s favourite television station.
When he isn’t busy wreaking havoc in the library, Oli has been described as “the kindest person ever”. He’s on his way to stardom, but is he famous enough to be crowned BNOC of the year?
The choice is in your hands now. Who will be making it into the final of BNOC of the Year 2025?
