The Traitors has become a phenomenon for the BBC, and its popularity shows no sign of abating.
The opening episode of season 4 was watched by 6.39million people overnight, while 7.8million tuned in to watch Fiona and Rachel fight for survival in episode 6.
It should come as no surprise, then, that the grand finale – which saw traitors Rachel and Stephen triumph over the remaining faithful -broke records.
According to viewing figures supplied by overnights.tv [via Deadline], around 9.4million people tuned in to watch the chaos, and the audience peaked at 9.6million.
That puts the season four finale more than two million viewers ahead of last year’s final and makes it the biggest episode ever for the civilian edition of the popular TV show.
Sadly, it didn’t quite manage to break the record set by the celebrity version.
11million viewers watched Alan Carr claim victory last year, making it the biggest episode of the UK Traitors ever.

It’s not just The Traitors that enjoyed a bounce in ratings, either.
Super TV reports that the spin-off Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble, was watched by 6.6million people.
The latest season of The Traitors has been branded the best ever by some fans who enjoyed this series unique twists and brilliant casting.
Indeed, the decision to cast a ‘Secret Traitor’ who operated in the shadows and whose identity was unknown even to the traitors was considered a masterstroke (even if not everyone agreed).
The victorious Traitors Rachel and Stephen have also made history on the UK show as the first-ever Traitors duo to win.
Season 5 of the hit show is now casting, so if you fancy a trip to Claudia’s castle, then now is your chance.
‘The Traitors is back, and we are looking for fun, smart and strategic players to take part in the ultimate game of trust and treachery,’ the website reads.
‘Expect trickery, betrayal and backstabbing. Do you have what it takes to play?’
