It’s A-Level Results Day in the UK and students up and down the country are hitting search engines in a frenzy. Whether you’ve just missed out on their firm offer or are rethinking their next steps, thousands are turning to Google to find UCAS Clearing hotlines, course options, and last minute places at universities.
But which universities are attracting the most attention online today? We’ve taken a look at the UK’s most searched for universities on A-Level Results Day 2025 to reveal where student interest is spiking and who’s winning the race for clicks.

The searches for the University of Liverpool are up by 800 per cent. This university somehow manages to attract “rah” energy and local Scouse icons simultaneously. It’s fun, friendly and a little chaotic in the best way.

Often called the sensible sibling out of other UK universities, the searches for the University of Surrey are up by 850 per cent. Make sure you’ve got your LinkedIn account up to date and easily on hand – it seems to be the favoured method of communication here.
8. Loughborough University

Loughborough University searches have spiked by 850 per cent. Remember to bring your protein powder, resistance bands and Gymshark sponsorships. You’re going to need them.
7. Newcastle University

It’s basically a three year bender here. The searches for Newcastle University are up by 850 per cent. There are brains behind all the VKs though, as Newcastle is well respected for its academics.

Searches for the University of Leicester are up by 850 per cent on Google. This one’s for the medics and the aspiring pharmacy students. With a well respected medical school, there’s no wonder it’s so popular.

The Royal Holloway University of London has had its searches spike by 900 per cent. I mean, just look at the building. It’s the university that was built like something out of Bridgerton, but runs on Pret subscriptions.

Medicine and dentistry tops the most popular clearing courses here. The searches for the University of Birmingham are up by 1,000 per cent. Better grab yourself a North Face puffer if you want to fit in here!
3. City St George’s University

This uni is for those who want to study in London, but don’t want the stress of being in a Russell Group. The searches for City St George’s University are up by 1,100 per cent. It’s very chill, I’lll give it that.

And finally, The University of Nottingham finishes off our list for the most popular university, with searches up by 1,450 per cent. I guess people want to start sporting Jack Wills zip ups and sharing LinkedIn accounts at socials!
