In a message posted on her official account, Noem recognized the work of federal agents and assured that “these brave men and women thwart the criminal plans of criminals every day.”
“DHS arrested two individuals who were attempting to smuggle more than 500 firearms and 31,000 rounds of ammunition through the Laredo port of entry in Texas, enough to supply a small army,” the Secretary published on her official X account.
The case was turned over to the United States Department of Justice, under the direction of Attorney General Pam Bondi, to proceed with the corresponding charges against the two suspects, who will face American justice.
“Emilio Ramírez Cortés, a Mexican citizen, and his son Edgar Ramírez Díaz hid these weapons behind false walls in two vehicle trailers traveling to Mexico. Thanks to the Department of Justice led by Pamela Bondi These criminals will be prosecuted in the United States,” the official explained.

Noem noted that, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, law enforcement “is more empowered than ever to keep our borders secure and protect the nation.”
