TEKAX.- The Regional Technological University (UTR) of the Southbased in Tekax, has launched a unique initiative to commemorate the October festivities.
Through its Language Coordination, the institution launched the call for the “Halloween Door Contest”a contest that seeks.
In addition to healthy competition among its students, it promotes the learning and use of the English language in a didactic manner.
Looking for a context culturally close to the traditional Day of the Dead and Anglo-Saxon celebrations.
The call, addressed to all UTR groups, establishes a series of rules that point to creativity and teamwork.
The goal is for each group to decorate the main door of their classroom with a Mandatory Halloween theme.
However, the contest adds a key requirement to fulfill its educational purpose: the doors must necessarily include a phrase or slogan in English.
A bridge between cultures and recycled materials
The contest, which takes place in the days prior to the day of Hanal Pixán in Yucatán.
The above seeks to establish a bridge between local festivities and global trends, using a playful strategy to reinforce language skills.

For decoration, participants are allowed to use recycled materials—such as paper, cardboard, fabric, lights and paint—seeking to encourage ecological awareness.
