The unwritten customs in Mexican politics were made to be violated. Sometimes they have been unknown by their own creators. One of the strongest examples of discipline was the silence of the former presidents, practically a ritual where respect for the successor was total.
The discipline that was the last concession that former presidents had to make was broken in 2018, when Andrés Manuel López Obrador came to power, Felipe Calderón began a process of criticism of the 4T that has not yet ended.
Calderón knows that there are sufficient reasons to imprison him, but if he questioned the government he could pose as a political dissident, and be sentenced as a common criminal to become a politically persecuted person.
The speech of the person who stole the Presidency in 2006 was followed by another of lower level, that of his predecessor, a person with an inconsistent personality and absurd speech but who had the unconditional help of the conventional media that echoed and celebrated all the words of an illiterate person like Vicente Fox.
The former presidents were in the dock, the population was summoned to approve their judgment and the people, unaccustomed to consultations, came, although not in the necessary proportion and the possibility of doing justice was cancelled.
Once the danger of spending the rest of his days in prison had passed, another ghost emerged from the darkness of corruption called Ernesto Zedillo to try to become a clandestine train salesman into a history teacher, and he continues to have spaces in the media with the hubbub of those who reproduce his words in prominent spaces, and when it is not one it is another, in such a way that every day we wake up with a new opinion about the current politics of the country.
Even Peña Nieto himself suddenly appears commenting on something instead of remaining silent when his corruption forces him.
All of them have the facility of having spaces that in honor of old times, the news businessmen gladly give them and there is no way to stop their always aggressive, unfortunate and unrealistic appearance.
Faced with these ghostly apparitions the media smile, extend hours to give them a privileged place, organize round tables on the words of Zedillo and Calderón, although in reality they lack content. But let former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador appear in a video to present his recent book, because they shout, insult, hit the table, and go so far as to buy the book to take a photo of it in the trash can and spread it on the networks.
All because his information that he was hiding, that he lived in Cuba, that they are investigating him would fall like all the lies that commentators invent every day to try to sever the link between López Obrador and the people.
The right in full tantrum. It makes the media vibrate for something that at least 4 former presidents do every day and this time a video, less than an hour long, has already spoiled their Christmas.
None of them have written a book, they may say that it is published but their ability shows a total inability to maintain the congruence of writing a long text.
But it is not the only thing that makes them different from Andrés Manuel López Obrador and people know it.
HIT AND RUN.- As is its custom, the PRIAN asks to postpone the discussion in Congress on the Water Law, to gain time to change the name of the concessions and manipulate payments, invoices and receipts in its multiple concessions.
