The Walking Dead star’s son gives chilling threat after being charged with assault

Mingus Lucien Reedus, the son of The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus and Victoria’s Secret model Helena Christensen, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly assaulting a woman in Chelsea, New York City.

According to police sources, and as reported on by the New York Post, the 25-year-old model called 911 himself on Saturday over reports of a woman threatening suicide using pills. When police arrived on scene, they “observed a 33-year-old female with minor injuries to [her] neck and leg.” The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Initially, Norman Reedus’ son was charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal obstruction of breathing, but he was later also charged with assault, recklessly causing physical injury, aggravated harassment and harassment, according to publicly available records. He claimed the situation was a “misunderstanding.”

In a statement to PEOPLE, Mingus’ lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said her client’s “innocence will become clear” as “the facts emerge.”

“Despite what the prosecutor said in court — which is not evidence — they [the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office] chose to charge Mingus with misdemeanors or less. This speaks volumes, and much louder than the unsupported prosecutor’s in-court comments,” she said, adding, “Equally important, the judge released Mingus on his own recognisance, with neither bail nor supervision. That significant judicial decision amplifies the volume. Mingus is presumed innocent and has pleaded not guilty.”

Mingus Lucien Reedus is set to appear in court again on Tuesday, August 26, but before that, he made a rather alarming statement to reporters outside of his apartment in New York.

On Sunday, Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen’s son spoke to New York Post reporters outside of his West 16th Street pad in New York.

Though he refused to answer any questions about the alleged assault and subsequent arrest, he did ask journalists: “You want to watch me kill myself?”

It’s not immediately clear what he meant.
