Work on the ballroom that Donald Trump has long wanted to see built in the White House began this Monday, but there is at least one aspect that is not in line with what he had promised: there is demolitions underway in the east wing, after the North American President stated that it would be a simple expansion, not affecting the current building.
According to “The Washington Post“, a part of the wing is being demolished, affecting the structure. The same newspaper reveals that several employees, including mmembers of the Secret Services, attended the work, having the Treasury Department sent a email to prohibit employees from taking and sharing photos of work, at least without prior authorization. In the streets you can hear the noise of the works, but it is not possible to observe them because the fence has been reinforced with signs.
A White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that objects of historical value that could be affected had been removed.
On Monday, Donald Trump confirmor the beginning of works: “We are building a ballroom, they have wanted a ballroom for 150 years and I am giving this honor to this place”, he stated.

Democratic criticism
The project was criticized by the opposition, who argue that the President’s priorities are not aligned with those of the Americans.
