All Stars 10 has added its latest queen to the Drag Race winner circle – and, to the shock of pretty much no one, it’s Ginger Minj. and oh boy, has this not gone down well online. Ginger Minj is an incredibly talented drag queen who has always excelled on Drag Race, but always in a way that felt like the producers love her more than the fans do. This not helped by the fact that Ginger was a runner up twice, and on All Stars 2 – a beloved season. Her win this time, on a season where everyone has had a great time, has felt tainted by production decisions that make her journey to the crown less satisfying. And the producers giving Ginger Minj the win has made things worse for her online in the eyes of the fans who are sending Ginger Minj a lot of hate already for coming out as the Drag Race All Stars 10 winner.
It’s all a bit… unfair. Especially on Ginger – who should be celebrating the victory and becoming 200K richer.
‘She lost all three of her lip syncs’
Well, obviously Ginger Minj didn’t in the eyes of RuPaul – but people are getting fed up with the Ginger shtick. It feels like her humorous approach to lip syncs always treads the same boards.

It’s very interesting that a show so attune to its online audience chooses to ignore the sentiment of fans so often – which inevitably leads to more backlash for the queen they crown the winner.
People really wanted other queens who’ve shown more growth to take the win.

‘One of the worst’

Everyone loved this season, but the production decisions have cheapened the wow of it all in the eyes of fans. I’ve still had a great time this season and I have no beef with Ginger or queens returning a lot. But the Ginger Minj winning storyline has never felt euphoric to me. Imagine the joy if Irene or Bosco won!

Obviously, this is RuPaul’s show – and if Ru wants Ginger Minj to be the winner of Drag Race All Stars 10 then that’s what’s going to happen. But I do think these decisions do more harm than good in the long run for the queens. I hope Ginger Minj can cut through the noise because it’s not her fault that she won and she’s amazingly talented and deserves to be proud – but the production should feel guilty for making it feel so heavy handed and opening her up to the backlash online from fans who are going to go viral by sharing their disappointed thoughts.
