Mexico City.- The substitute representative of the PAN, María Elena Pérez-Jaénpresented before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) 37 complaints against the Morenoist senator Adam Augusto Lopez Hernandezfor alleged irregularities detected during his administration as governor of Tabasco, which would represent damage to the treasury of close to 800 million pesos.
The accusations, he explained, derive from observations made by the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) in the fiscal years 2019 and 2020, which – he assures – were retained without any investigation.
Pérez-Jaén argued that the lack of action by the head of the ASF, David Colmenares, constitutes a form of cover-up towards the legislator. “What the ASF did, the senior auditor David Colmenares is protecting the senator Adam Augusto Lopez Hernandezbecause five years have passed since 2019; That is, the audit was presented on February 20, 2021 and nothing has been done.” The deputy pointed out that the files remain “sleeping the sleep of the just” in the agency’s research area for more than four years.
The Tabasco politician governed the entity between January 2019 and August 2021, before joining the federal cabinet as Secretary of the Interior. According to the complainant, among the audits there are irregularities in different agencies, including the Ministry of Public Security. “There is an audit that has to do with the issue of public security, that is 5.3 million pesos and it was precisely when Hernán Bermúdez Requena was Secretary of Public Security, in 2020,” he explained.
The legislator also pointed out that López Hernández had publicly challenged her to present evidence about possible acts of corruption in her administration, which is why she decided to formalize the complaints. “The senator said that there were no complaints that involved him in corruption, well, it is against him and against those who are responsible, there are already 37 criminal complaints here in the Prosecutor’s Office in Matters of Combating Corruption.”
Finally, Pérez-Jaén expressed his expectation that this time the head of said area in the FGR will follow up on the case. “I do hope that on this occasion Dr. María de la Luz Mijangos does follow up, since it seems that she is the ornate lady; I already have 205 presented from when she was a deputy,” he stated.
