MEXICO CITY.- During its usual “People’s Conference”this Wednesday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardoconfirmed that the number of deceased people for the heavy rains and floods that affected five states of the country rose to 78while 23 people are still missing, and reported that starting today government aid to the victims will begin to be dispersed.
The president showed the official site which accumulates the statistics for these meteorological phenomena in which it is pointed out that the most affected state is Veracruz with 35 dead and 11 people who have not yet been located, followed by Hidalgo, with 22 dead and 8 missing; Puebla with 20 deaths and 4 missing people, and Querétaro with one death.

Delivery of aid to affected families
Claudia Sheinbaum reported that starting this day the delivery of aid to families affected by the consequences of the rains and floods will begin.
“Today it begins in Veracruz, in Puebla, in Querétaro and in San Luis Potosí, and on Sunday it begins in Hidalgo because it is the state that still has the most locations that have not been accessible by land,” explained the president.
He pointed out that the aid will be given “directly” when the daily census of each affected municipality is finished.
“When the census is finished, they are left with a headband that has a number and is identified with the name of the person who is the head of the family. Then, with that headband they go to the welfare module and there they are given (…) a coupon for one pantry or for two pantries and for household goods,” he explained.

Financial aid to those affected will range from 20,000 pesos per family, up to 50,000 pesos for businesses, between 50,000 and 100,000 pesos for fields and livestock, 150 pesos in school supplies and 500,000 pesos for reconstruction of clinics.
The Mexican Government announced on Monday a national reconstruction plan in which 10,000 million pesos will be invested.
According to information, more than 52,000 people participate in relief efforts between the Armed Forces, the Federal Government, state authorities and volunteers.

This Wednesday, Jesus Estevasecretary of Communications and Transportationpointed out that 195 of 288 roads are already clear and 99.38% of electrical energy services have been restored.
The Government specified that extraordinary rains hit five states of the country between October 7 and 11, 2025.
