Mexico City.- The substitute representative of the PAN, María Elena Pérez-Jaén Zermeñopresented this Wednesday a new formal complaint before the Internal Comptroller of the Senate against the president of the Political Coordination Board, Adam Augusto Lopez Hernandez. With this action, the legislator accumulates 38 complaints for alleged irregularities committed during the administration of the former governor of Tabasco, including unresolved deviations of more than 800 million pesos.

The most recent complaint indicates possible serious administrative offenses and criminal offenses such as bribery, illicit enrichment, tax fraud and concealment of a conflict of interest. According to Pérez-Jaén, the accusation is based on journalistic investigations and official documents that would reveal undeclared income of 79 million pesos, allegedly coming from contracting companies of the Tabasco government between 2018 and 2022.

Among the noted firms are GH Servicios Empresariales SA de CV, identified by the SAT as a company with simulated operations (EFOS), as well as Operadora Turística Rabate and Capital Cargo del Golfo, which benefited from direct awards during the López Hernández administration.

“The failure to declare said income constitutes a serious administrative offense, and could constitute crimes such as equivalent tax fraud, bribery and illicit enrichment,” said the legislator, who requested a comprehensive investigation into the senator’s assets, including his tax and asset returns for the years 2022 to 2025.

Pérez-Jaén requested the intervention of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the SAT, to verify the real existence of the declared operations. He also requested to see the Public Ministry, considering that there are sufficient elements to open a criminal investigation.

The deputy recalled that between 2019 and 2020 she filed 37 complaints with the FGR for unresolved irregularities in Tabasco, for an amount close to 800 million pesos. “Five years have passed, an interim governor and now Javier May, and those resources remain unclear. Where were those 800 million?” he questioned.

In addition, he linked his complaint to the revelations of the Guacamaya collective, which exposed alleged links between Hernán Bermúdez Requena, former Secretary of Public Security of Tabasco and identified as leader of the La Barredora criminal group, and himself. Lopez Hernandez. Despite having knowledge of that relationship, the now senator appointed him as his Secretary of Security, which, he said, shows a pattern of cover-up and impunity.

Pérez-Jaén accused the internal comptroller of the Senate of maintaining an “intimate friendship” with López Hernández and demanded that he act independently. He also urged President Claudia Sheinbaum to break the “mantle of political protection” over the former Secretary of the Interior and allow the FGR to act.

“Although the Prosecutor’s Office is an autonomous constitutional body, in practice it is an appendix of the Executive. If the president wants the law to be complied with, she must instruct the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate,” he declared.

The legislator concluded by assuring that she will continue to file complaints “where necessary,” and stressed that “an official cannot be allowed to take refuge in presidential protection to evade justice.”
