Acapulco, Guerrero. – Violence does not let up in Guerrero. In a new episode that shows the brutality with which criminal groups operate in the state, Antonio Bautista Vargas, alias El Cabañashead of the criminal group The Russians in Acapulco, he was captured along with five of his hitmen, after an armed ambush against security elements that left three agents injured and one attacker killed.
The operation that ended with his arrest was carried out after the attack that occurred last Saturday in the Jacarandas neighborhood, where police from the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection were carrying out patrols when they were surprised by armed men on board a motorcycle.
The result was three agents injured by high-caliber projectiles, while one of the attackers, identified as Marcos “N”, El Zorro or Mixteco, was captured at the scene. Another gunman lost his life during the confrontation.
After the attack, federal and state forces arrested three more individuals, identified as Abad Bautista Gregorio, Pedro Jesús Quintero Castro and León Monto Alejandro. 90 doses of glass and 10 of marijuana were confiscated from the men and they were identified as hitmen in the direct service of The Cabins.
Hours later, in a joint operation between the National Guard, the Secretariat of National Defense and the Morelos Prosecutor’s Office, the authorities located and captured Antonio Bautista Vargas himself. The Cabins, in Cuernavaca, along with Cristina Mejía Valente, a close collaborator of the leader.
