Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena announces work on the dome and the electrical network so that the campus can be equipped with a new transformer

In his message as guest of honor, Diaz Mena He highlighted that this commemoration marks half a century of history, learning and pride for Mérida and all of Yucatán.
In addition, he recognized the work and contribution of the founding teachers, who with effort and vocation have sustained this campus and spread knowledge among generations of students.
“Fifty years are not celebrated every day; they are entire generations of young people who here took their first steps towards adult life and learned, in addition to knowledge, values, discipline and camaraderie,” he stated.
“Daughters and sons of working families have been educated in this school, good people who have made Yucatán great,” he highlighted.
In addition, Diaz Mena He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to free public education, equal opportunities and the right of every girl and boy to study in decent conditions.
The state president reported that this year, more than 500 million pesos of the State government to improve educational infrastructure.

The governor promised to rehabilitate the main dome and the electrical system of this secondary school, so that the students have a transformer that improves the conditions in which they take classes.
“We do not want there to be a single student in Yucatán who learns under a broken roof, without fans, without furniture or without access to technology,” he said.
“We want decent, clean and safe educational spaces that, together with the Allies for Life strategy, promote sports and culture as tools to care for the mental health of our students,” he said.

These supports complement those provided by the federal government so that young people do not abandon their studies.
The governor invited those present to proudly celebrate the 50 years of the General Secondary School Number 5 “Alfredo Barrera Vásquez”.
There are 50 years in which generations of Yucatecans were formed with values, knowledge, discipline and hope, thanks to the teaching, example and love of the teachers who went through this school, he stressed.

For his part, Janitzio Durán Castillowho was the dfounding director of the school from 1975 to 1990gave a historical review of the campus where countless generations of students who contribute to the development of Yucatán were trained.
