VALLADOLID.— The municipal president, Homero Novelo Burgos, was at the General Cemetery yesterday morning to verify the work he was commissioned to carry out in order to leave it in optimal conditions.
After a tour he took both inside and outside, the mayor was able to observe the painting, signage, lighting and drinking water work that was carried out, in addition to the placement of more garbage containers and various maintenance actions.
“Now, the General Cemetery is ready for the busiest days, when families usually visit it. You can be sure that you will be able to have a comfortable stay during that special moment you spend with your faithful deceased,” he said.
When thanking the workers from all areas who contributed to making it in the best conditions, Novelo Burgos recalled that during this week the cemetery will have extended hours, from 6:00 in the morning to 10:00 at night.
Likewise, he asked the deputy director of Public Security, Oliver Rodríguez, to reinforce surveillance in the area during the weekend, which are the days when the most people will attend, both for the visit to the cemetery and for the masses that will be held in front.
It is worth mentioning that the different ramps for people with disabilities were also indicated at the site, awnings will be installed for the masses that will be offered and containers specifically intended for depositing useless candle glasses were placed, the proper use of which is requested to take care of the integrity of the workers in charge of waste collection.
The mayor attended accompanied by his wife, María Teresa Martín López, as well as the councilor of Municipal Public Services, Martha Núñez, and the general and area directors responsible for the City Council’s various municipal public services.
