Things to do in the regions this week (31 October – 6 November)

There’s heaps going on across the regions this week, with festivals, art exhibitions, live music, tribute acts and art workshops on offer.

The Narooma Boats Afloat Festival gives the public the chance to check out beautiful wooden vessels from mariners and small boat enthusiasts. There will also be a live jazz band.

And two great live music tribute acts come to Queanbeyan and Goulburn, playing the best music from Elton John and Roy Orbison.

Art exhibition: Landscapes of the Wild

When: 31 October to 2 November, during normal gallery hours

Landscapes of the Wild shows off the works of local artists Bessie Nunes and Josephine Best-McMahon, whose artworks invite viewers on a journey through Australia’s natural landscapes.

This exhibition celebrates the country’s natural diversity with immersive installations, and paintings depicting landscapes, flora and fauna through wildlife portraits. These works aim to help viewers deepen their appreciation for the natural world and inspire them to preserve the natural beauty in our country, especially on the coast.

Narooma Traditional Boat Festival

When: 1 November, 1 pm and 2 November, 10 to 11 am
Where: Marina, 30 Riverside Dr, Narooma
Cost: Free to spectate.

The annual Narooma Boats Afloat Festival is back. The mariners encourage the public to spend some time checking out their vessels as they sit docked at the marina while a jazz band provides the background music. On Sunday, the community will gather for the grand parade of boats, where enthusiasts will be able to show off their traditional wooden vessels in a procession on the water.

Performer Greg Andrew embodies the great Elton John like no one else, with a faithful and skilful recreation of the talent of one of the most memorable performers of our age.

Andrew has performed at the world’s largest tribute music festival, TRIBFEST, and he has built up a reputation with a rich touring history all over the world, bringing the music of Elton John to more than half a million people in more than 30 countries.

Andrew and his seven-piece band will perform the best of Elton John across two hours, with songs such as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Bennie And The Jets, Candle In The Wind, Philadelphia Freedom, Daniel and I’m Still Standing.
