At the minute, Timex’s Q collection is deservedly all the rage. The series of affordable “re-issues” gathers its inspiration from the brand’s coolest models circa the 1970s and ’80s. Each execution thus far has been a flawless recreation, honoring both the classic designs and Timex’s quartz heritage. Latest in the line, the Q Timex Falcon Eye Chronograph adds a stunning Côtes de Genève dial for a dynamic wrist presence that massively out kicks its coverage and price point.

The 40mm brushed and polished stainless-steel case is, of course, late-’70s period-correct. A 12mm height allows it to fit under the snuggest of shirt cuffs and the matching three-link brushed stainless-steel bracelet gives the chrono an integrated look from the disco era, thanks to the hidden lugs. But it’s the Côtes de Genève dial that steals the show. The finish shines with waves of texture as you move your wrist through the light, elevating the experience. That dial is fitted with three chronograph registers, a date window between 3 and 4 o’clock, as well applied indices and logos giving the Q additional dimensionality.

The domed acrylic crystal is lightweight, impact resistant and offers a warm vintage hue.  Plus, it can be polished to remove any scuffs. The battery-powered Epson YM12a quartz analog movement is highly accurate, Timex claims within milliseconds per day and the watch is water resistant to 50 meters. Meaning it’s not a dive watch, but you can get it wet and maybe do a bit of light swimming. But we’d probably just leave it next to our phone and margarita before hitting the diving board.

The Q Timex Falcon Eye Chronograph is available now at timex.com for $259.
