She sent fans into an absolute spiral after announcing a yard sale flogging her clothes that said she was quitting drag, but now Drag Race winner Yvie Oddly has given a statement clarifying if she actually is quitting or not. Yvie Oddly announced on Instagram that she was “quitting drag” and the money raised from selling her “clothes of all gender” at the drag yard sale would help fund the drugs she needs for her illness. Yvie has a condition known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a chronic type three illness. She’s often been open about how this can majorly impact her performance in drag.
But despite the panic stations, Drag Race legend Yvie Oddly has now confirmed she’s not actually quitting drag forever necessarily. Clarifying the points she made in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Yvie said “I think it’s hilarious when – no shade to every diva who believes in her heart that she’s quitting – a queen is like, ‘I’m quitting drag.’ No you’re not, b***h. You might not be gigging as much, you might keep a secret pair of heels in the closet.
“But, look at all the queens who’ve quit. Phi Phi/Jaremi, still does drag. Tyra Sanchez quit, came back, and quit again. Y’all can’t get a queen to quit drag if you wanted to. Sherry Pie still has a career. The only way a queen quits drag is through death.”
So those who thought you may never get to see Yvie Oddly in all her Drag Race winner glory again because of the quitting drag post can rest easy – it’s never TRULY the end.
