After getting brutally dumped just a couple of weeks into her time on Love Island, Alima Gagigo has revealed that she actually considered going straight back to her old day job.
It’s no secret that Love Island has transformed many of its winners into overnight stars. This year’s winner, Toni Laites, is even launching her own spin-off show. But it’s not just the winners. It has also turned plenty of its non-winners into successful, rich, famous influencers with thousands of followers. Some of them have gone on to make serious money, like Chris Hughes, Maura Higgins, Molly-Mae, and, of course, Tommy Fury. For some, stepping out of the villa is the start of a glittering career.
But not everyone steps out of the villa feeling like a star.
Alima might have had her fair share of drama with Remell, but it definitely wasn’t that much. She was way too sweet for the villa anyway. So, after getting dumped, she admitted she was ready to go straight back to her old life.
So, why did she want to go back to her old day job?

Speaking to Grazia, Alima revealed that she wanted to return to her day job literally the day after she left the villa.
“When I came out of the show, I kind of got thrown in at the deep end,” she said. “Some of the girls already had an idea of what they wanted to do. But the first thing I did was ring my manager at Barclays, just so I’d still have the option to go back to work.”
She admitted, “I’d never done content creation before, so I didn’t know if it was for me. But now, seeing what other Islanders are doing, I’m like, ‘Oh, I actually quite like this.’ I don’t want to do what every other Islander is doing, though. I’d love to go down the modelling route and work with high-end brands.”
