How to Turn This Costco Favorite into Multiple Meals.

For those unfamiliar with the Costco Shepherd’s Pie, the large, ready-to-bake dish starts with a hefty helping of ground beef mixed with vegetables. The meat mixture is topped with whipped potatoes. Since it is a hearty dish, a smaller serving satisfies.

According to this Reddit hack, one user divided the Shepherd’s Pie into four equal servings. Basically, they quartered the dish. One portion was used for dinner and the other three portions when into separate containers to be frozen for another time.

While the Reddit account used disposable, single use containers, reusable meal prep containers would work just as well. Additionally, people could make smaller portions.

If smaller portions were desired, consider a clock analogy for portion sizes. The round Sheperd’s Pie could be divided into four, eight or 12 equal portions.

Many shoppers appreciate the deals up and down the Costco warehouse aisles. From special savings on favorite protein brands to discounts on small appliances, the popular store is known for its cost-effective shopping.

At the same time, some of the sizes are substantial for an individual. The Shepherd’s Pie hack is just one example of turning a single item into a multi-meal offering.

Many of the ready-to-bake items can be portioned and saved for another time. From the new barbecue chicken mac and cheese to even the classic stuffed peppers, no one must eat those large meals in one setting.

The only meal that might be difficult to portion is the iconic chicken pot pie. While people love that flakey crust and succulent chicken filling, the dish does not cut evenly. That meal is better suited for a large group. Or, people must eat leftover food for a few days.
