Luxury style doesn’t necessarily have to come with a luxury price tag, which our beloved high street retailer, New Look, has proved.
From New Look’s Chanel-inspired slingbacks to the Dôen-esque milkmaid summer dresses, it really has made a case for premium styles on a budget. Our latest must-have from the retailer that will make anyone double take is the Leather-Look Weave Shoulder Bag.
Yes, it’s a super chic design and can house your valuables and then some, it is even more affordable now it’s on sale for £14 (rather than £32.99), but it is also turning heads because it resembles Bottega Veneta’s Jodie Bag. The main difference? The price tag.
Burgundy Leather-Look Weave Shoulder Bag
Crafted from faux-leather fabric and a polyester lining, this bag has been certified by The Vegan Society. It boasts a woven exterior, a large shoulder strap with knot detail, and a zip top fastening. The spacious interior also features an inner zip pocket to keep your valuables safe.It measures 27cm in height, 46cm in width and 3cm in base depth, and comes in three colours, though the black shade has sold out.
New Look’s Leather-Look Weave Shoulder Bag boasts a woven texture exterior as well as a knot detail on the shoulder strap, which resembles the designer brand’s signature intrecciato technique, hence why it is giving unmistakable Bottega Veneta vibes.
It has been crafted from polyurethane on the outside, with a polyester lining, which protects your belongings inside. The fabric choice is exactly why the high street accessory has been proudly registered with The Vegan Society. Whereas Bottega Veneta has used soft lamb leather to create the original.
Both designs feature a zip top fastening to protect your valuables, as well as a spacious interior with an additional internal zip pouch to ensure your possessions are organised and accessible.
New Look’s bag offers the same slouchy shape as the Jodie Bag, and we would say they are the same size on first glance. On paper, the New Look design is a fraction taller and wider as it measures 27cm in height, 46cm in width and 3cm in base depth, though there is room to expand. The Jodie bag on the other hand measures 25cm in height and 45cm in width.
The high street counterpart is available in three colours, including burgundy, navy blue and black, though the latter has sold out. While the Jodie Bag is available in six shades, as well as three sizes.
The other main difference is New Look’s design will only set you back £14, reduced from £32.99, while the designer version can start from a hefty price of £19,600, which is a MASSIVE saving!
Shoppers are obsessed with New Look’s affordable alternative. One shopper gushed: ‘So beautiful and looks way more expensive!’
Another added: ‘Gorgeous roomy bag fits all my essentials. I already bought the burgundy so I just had to have the blue to go with all my outfits. Great roomy size fits all my necessary items.’
While a separate shopper shared: ‘This is my new favourite bag! The perfect size and I love the weave effect.’
Considering New Look’s design could easily fool even the most discerning fashion eye, especially when slung casually over your shoulder or tucked neatly into the crook of your arm, it’s a no brainer.
