Thomas Tuchel has insisted he is not currently considering recalling Mason Greenwood to the England squad.
Greenwood, who now plays for French club Marseille, was handed his only senior England cap against Iceland in 2020 – later sent home along with Phil Foden after breaking Covid quarantine protocols.
The former Manchester United star is exploring switching allegiances to Jamaica, qualifying for the national team through his grandfather.
Jamaica head coach Steve McClaren revealed this week Greenwood has obtained a Jamaican passport ahead of the switch but the forward has asked for more time to determine his international future – leaving the door open for a potential return to the England set-up.
Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 for attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault, charges he denied. All charges against Greenwood were dropped in February 2023.

After a loan spell with Getafe in Spain, Greenwood was sold to Marseille in July 2024, rebuilding his career in France where he scored 21 goals last season.
Speaking on Friday ahead of England’s World Cup qualifier against Andorra, Tuchel revealed there have been no talks with Greenwood and his camp. While he refused to rule anything out, the Three Lions boss suggested the former United star is nowhere near his plans for the team.

‘I have not spoken to him until now,’ he said. ‘I have not spoken to him or his camp.
‘My understanding was that he tries to play for Jamaica, so we didn’t give it another thought.
‘He was not in the mix at the moment and he is not in our thoughts for our team. I don’t rule anything out, but he is no priority at the moment.’
Jamaica boss McClaren described the situation as ‘a bit disappointing’ having felt Greenwood was ready to commit to the Reggae Boyz.

‘We acquired a passport and we expected him to be coming to this camp, but in a conversation with his family, he’s not going to commit at this time to anybody,’ the former England boss said.
‘It’s a little bit disappointing, we probably have to be more patient. We will keep pursuing him because I know from my conversations with Mason that he loves Jamaica.
‘He wants to concentrate on club football and not commit to an international team at the moment. He’s taking his time over that. Who knows in the future?
‘I get that he loves Jamaica, he respects Jamaica. As soon as that decision was made and he couldn’t commit, you move on. You don’t harp on it and don’t go, “What if this?” or “what if that?” — you move on and control what you can control.’
