The remains of three people delivered overnight to Israel by Hamas, with the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, do not belong to any of the hostages, concluded the Israeli forensic analysis, reported by international agencies. The Spanish news agency EFE cited several local media, while France Presse reported the same information based on statements by an Israeli Army spokesperson regarding the hostages kidnapped on October 7, 2023 by Hamas.
Israel had previously been notified that Hamas was not sure of the identity of the remains, information that was not released after analysis at the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Tel Aviv.
The last bodies of Israeli hostages were handed over on Thursday and identified as belonging to Amiram Cooper, 84, and Sahar Baruch, 25, according to the prime minister’s office.
As part of the ceasefire, Hamas released the 20 prisoners who remained alive, in exchange for 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners. He also handed over the bodies of 17 hostages, but there are still 11 left in the enclave.
For its part, Israel returned to the Strip, under the mediation of the Red Cross, 225 corpses of Gaza citizens, many with signs of abuse and torture or charred, according to images released by the Ministry of Health, to facilitate identification, and reports from medical sources and Hamas.
A military source had already said on Friday night, when the bodies were handed over, that he did not believe they were those of the hostages. The Palestinian Islamist movement has already handed over 17 bodies of 28 dead hostages, which it agreed to hand over under the truce negotiated by the United States with Israel. Among the 17 bodies are those of 15 Israelis, one Thai and one Nepalese.
