Three suspects killed in shootout with police near Nasrec 

Three robbery suspects were killed during a shootout with the police on the N12 near Nasrec in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

This follows after the police received information about suspects who allegedly robbed a courier vehicle in Tokoza.

The police responded to the information and a shootout ensued between the members and the suspects.

Three suspects were certified dead at the scene and one suspect sustained injuries.

SHOOTING INCIDENT ON THE N12

“The suspects driving a silver Corolla vehicle were spotted at Kliprivier road joining N12 road towards Soweto when the police tried to stop them. They sped off, leading to a high-speed chase and shootout.

“The suspect’s vehicle came to a standstill on the N12 road between Xavier and the Soweto off-ramp,” said the Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwil.

The police recovered two firearms and suspected stolen stock.

FULL ROAD CLOSURE ON N12

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has urged Motorists to avoid the N12 West heading towards Uncle Charlie’s and the Diepkloof Interchange.

All lanes have been closed on the N12 due to this incident 

“Please exercise extreme caution when approaching the vicinity. Motorists can use the exit at Xavier Street to navigate around the closure. Utilise M1 North or South as a bypass where possible. Consider using the Golden Highway as an alternative link,” said the JMPD.
