TikToker dragged for complaining influencers don’t get as much credit as pro athletes

The TikToker Bran Flakezz is being dragged for complaining that influencers don’t get as much “credit” as professional athletes. Um, okay.

Bran has 1.3 million followers on TikTok, and 333,000 followers on Instagram. He made some controversial comments on Kamie Crawford’s Relationsh*t podcast.

Bran feels disgruntled that people don’t perceive influencing as a real job. He said: “Not that are jobs are so hard, but it’s just that internal bias of like, influencing is never going to be seen as a real job.

“And I always say, it’s like people will give us less credit than an athlete because if they think, ‘Can I throw a football across the field like they can?’ They’re like, ‘No.’ But our job to them is what they do every day, because the average person uses social media. So they’re like, ‘How come this person is getting paid to use social media?’

“But then I question them like, ‘Oh, are you posting three times a day? Are you creating content every single day? Are you documenting every part of your life? Are you telling stories about your life? Are you exposing private details? Are you doing all that? No, you’re f*cking not.’ So just because you post a f*cking Instagram story of your brunch on Saturday, that doesn’t make you a f*cking influencer, Meredith.”

Bran also claimed to constantly get calls from people who tell him how hard it is to make small edits to TikToks. “They’ll be like, ‘I’m trying to edit a TikTok video, and this is so hard. How do you do this every single day?’  And I’m like, ‘Yeah b*tch, it f*cking is hard. You try changing the font on your f*cking video and making it last only three seconds instead of five.’ Like, it gets annoying.”

People were not impressed with how Bran compared TikTokers and influencers to professional athletes.

The TikToker Daadi responded: “Serena Williams may have won the Australia Open while pregnant but she has never filmed a ‘get ready with me’ and a PR unboxing in the same day. Lebron James may have 55,000 total points but has he tried coming up with a clever caption every day for a year? Noah Lyles may have won a medal with Covid, but he’s never survived a 14 hour TikTok ban.”

“Athletes would never understand the sheer grit it takes to post three times a day,” A TikTok user wrote.

Under a TikTok of Bran eating a takeaway on the morning after a night out, someone commented: “Athletes might train their whole lives and sacrifice their childhoods for their sport. But can they film HUNGOVER? Didn’t think so.”

A Reddit user wrote: “This guy should be uninfluenced. This is what happens when overconfidence overshadows any actual talent or hard work.”

Bran has said on TikTok he should not be “cancelled” as “the clip did (him) dirty”. Apparently he meant to defend athletes, but got carried away talking about how influencing is harder than people think.
