Actor Tom Holland, who rose to fame when he began playing Spider-Man back in 2016, has become one of the most recognizable young actors on the planet over the past several years. However, a new look left him nearly unrecognizable to some fans.
Over the years, Holland has typically had some form of brown hair for both his acting roles and his everyday life. However, the actor significantly changed his hair for a recent commercial, and the drastically different look certainly had fans buzzing.
Holland’s Several Different Hairstyles
Like most actors, Holland often changes up his hair for whatever role he is playing in his latest acting project. Sometimes he’s a fan of the look, other times he’s not.
Back in 2023, Holland opened up about playing Danny Sullivan in the Apple TV+ thriller The Crowded Room. The role required him to have a “crazy hairstyle” with long, dark hair.
“I don’t like my hair being that dark,” Holland told TheRadioTimes.com. “I really like how my hair is like my mum’s, kind of red. Yeah, it was tough. That was a part of the show that I don’t miss for sure.”
Some hairstyles, however, he did grow accustomed to.
Back in 2019, Holland shaved his hair very short for a role in a film called Cherry. He admitted that he actually liked the way his hair looked and felt as well as how easy it was to maintain.
“I really like it,” Holland said during a panel at ACE Comic Con back in 2019. “I don’t know about you, but I really, really like it. It’s so much easier to manage. Quick towel dry and you’re done. I have no mousse in here, nothing.”
Holland Goes Blonde
While Holland has changed his hair a number of times throughout his career, he has never really given fans a true look at what he might look like with a significant amount of blonde in his hair – until now.
Holland starred in a recent short film advertisement for LEGO titled “Never Stop Playing.” In it, Holland had several different looks, including a superhero, an elderly man, and a tech CEO. But one particular look has gone absolutely viral on social media.
In the film, Holland portrayed a soccer player with blonde, wavy hair and dark roots, giving fans a look at what the Spider-Man actor would look like with lighter hair.
Fans Have Stunned Reactions
Holland’s blonde look quickly went viral on social media, with a Tom Holland fan Instagram account sharing a few behind-the-scenes photos of the actor wearing the lighter hair.
Many fans seemed to think the actor looked completely unrecognizable.
“Totally different look!” one fan wrote in a comment.
“I thought this was neymar,” another fan wrote.
“Turned him into Jamie Tartt,” someone else commented, comparing him to the iconic Ted Lasso character.
“That doesn’t even look like Tom,” another fan wrote.
“OMG I saw this ad and thought it looked like him but there was no way it actually was him but it is,” someone else commented.
It’s not clear whether or not this will be a long-term look for Holland, but fans clearly enjoyed getting to see the hairstyle, anyway.
