In terms of sheer star power, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is right near the top of the list for most impressive cast of the upcoming 2026 film releases. Although Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday may take the crown, due to its incredibly lengthy cast list, The Odyssey features a stellar group of names. After hearing Spider-Man star Tom Holland’s comments on the film, it’s not at all surprising that so many top-tier Hollywood stars were on board.
Holland, who plays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, portrayed by Matt Damon, is also joined by the likes of Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, Zendaya and Elliot Page, among several others. While the list of stars who opted to join Nolan’s follow-up to the megahit Oppenheimer, at least part of the reason may have been an exceptionally impressive script.
Tom Holland Says ‘The Odyssey’ Has ‘the Best Script I’ve Ever Read’
Holland recently spoke to Agence France-Presse (AFP), via France 24, about the highly anticipated film and offered a level of praise that’s apparently unrivaled in his mind. With filming wrapped and tickets for The Odyssey shockingly already sold despite the film’s July 17, 2026, release date, the star of Spider-Man: Brand New Day added even more hype behind the movie.
“The script is the best script I’ve ever read,” Holland, who recently wrapped filming in locations around the Mediterranean, tells AFP.
It’s a big comment from Holland, who has worked on several noteworthy films, including the Spider-Man franchise. Not surprisingly, Holland also offered high praise to Nolan after his first time working with the filmmaker.
“Chris [Nolan] is a real collaborator. He knows what he wants… but it is not an environment where you can’t pitch ideas or build characters in certain ways,” said Holland.
While following up a movie as popular as Oppenheimer is a tall task, Nolan and company look well-positioned for tremendous success with The Odyssey. Oppenheimer pulled in approximately $975.8 million worldwide at the box office, with $645.7 million internationally, per Box Office Mojo, making it one of the top-earning films of 2023.
