Tommy Fury has come under fire after a video surfaced showing the boxer shoving another competitor out of the way as he raced for the finish line at last weekend’s Great North Run.

The 26-year-old TV personality has become famous for his unique running technique in the closing stages of such events, with his burly frame making him instantly recognisable amongst the rest of the pack.

It was at the Tatton 10km back in January that Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson, first went viral with his bustling gait as he sprinted past several other runners on the narrow home straight.

Fury clearly saw the funny side and even responded to those trolling his style at the time, joking that ‘no grannies were hurt’ in the making of the video.

‘Right guys, straight off the plane, straight on the road, 10k done,’ he told his followers on social media.

‘In this beautiful scenery, Lake Como you are beautiful. And just to warn everybody no grannies were hurt in the process at the finish line.’

After taking part in a gruelling 100km triathlon along the French Riviera earlier this month, Fury decided to enter the Great North Run, in which participants race between Newcastle and South Shields.

But after storming home in a commendable time of 1:34:35 , Fury has been accused of unsportsmanlike conduct by many who have watched the footage in question.

In a 13-second video which has caused quite a stir on TikTok, the ex-Love Island star is seen wrestling a fellow runner out the way with some force in the dying moments of his half marathon.

‘Actually annoyed me that he’s pushed that innocent man,’ one TikTok user said in response to the short clip.

Another wrote: ‘Why’s he pushing people out of his way?’

‘Surely that’s a straight disqualification,’ one individual pondered.

‘Wow – no running etiquette covered in his training then…? All so he could sprint finish,’ said an especially unimpressed user in the replies.

Another simply responded: ‘Men [rolling eyes emoji].’

Prior to Sunday’s race, Fury said he would have been happy with a sub-1:40:00 finish – a time he went on to achieve quite comfortably.

‘First time doing the Great North Run and hopefully the first of many, we’ll see,’ Fury told Newcastleupontyne.com before setting off.

‘I’m looking forward to getting around this race, getting that done and then having a look around the town!

‘I’ve not been to Newcastle before, this is my first time.’

Shortly after crossing the finish line, a delighted Fury admitted he had ‘really surprised’ himself by ‘smashing’ his target.

‘First half marathon [tick emoji],’ he wrote on Instagram.

‘I really surprised myself with this time, I was hoping for 1 hour 40 but ended up smashing that time!’

Fury is yet to make any comment regarding his controversial finish in the race.
