Rail passengers are facing major rush hour disruption after a train came off its track closing rail lines.
National Rail has warned of long delays for the rest of the day following the ‘low-speed derailment’ in Bletchley near Milton Keynes.
Both stations are on the West Coast Mainline, the primary route for trains between London and the North West.
It was not carrying passengers and no injuries were reported, the rail company said.
Trains operated by London Northwestern Railway and Avanti West Coast could be delayed or cancelled.

A spokesperson for LNWR said: ‘We are working closely with Network Rail to resolve the disruption as soon as possible. In the meantime, ticket acceptance is available with East Midlands Railway and Transport for London Overground.’
Avanti said in a statement that passengers could use tickets on the two services before and after their booked train as well as via alternative routes with other operators.
In a statement, Euston station said: ‘For safety reasons, all lines between Milton Keynes and Bletchley were temporarily closed and we have worked quickly to reopen two of the four tracks on the West Coast Main Line.
‘Although some trains are running again, we expect this incident to cause significant disruption to journeys today and we are working to recover the timetables as quickly as possible.
‘We are very sorry to passengers whose journeys are affected and urge people to check before they travel.’
