Travis Kelce Changed His Mind on Taylor Swift Proposal Plan After He Was ‘Warned’

We all saw how Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce proposed to Taylor Swift as the pop sensation’s Instagram post has made history as the most “liked” post in history. However, it sounds like Kelce originally had a different plan.

Last month, Kelce and Swift officially announced their engagement to the world in an Instagram post showing a few photos of the couple after Kelce popped the question.

The backdrop for Kelce’s proposal included an arch with lots of greenery and flowers. However, it sounds like Kelce’s original plan included a very different setting before he changed his mind following a warning from a friend.

Kelce Breaks His Silence on Engagement

Though it’s been about a week since news of the couple’s engagement went public, Kelce had yet to speak on the news publicly until the most recent episode of his New Heights podcast, where he and his brother, Jason, addressed the announcement.

“In case you missed the Instagram post heard ’round the world, Travis and Taylor are engaged! Yay!” Jason Kelce joked on the latest New Heights episode.

“That’s right, that’s right. And I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on,” Travis responded. “It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”

Travis Changed His Mind on Proposal Plan

The proposal seemingly went smoothly, and the beautiful photos of the moment have since gone absolutely viral on social media. However, it sounds like Kelce originally had something much different in mind before he was “warned” against the idea.

During the podcast, one of the show’s producers, known as intern Brandon, opened up about his own recent proposal, which he did in the ocean – something he does not recommend for anyone else.

“My head was bobbing up in the water, holding the ring while kicking your little feet to fight the current,” Brandon said on the podcast. “Don’t recommend it. Travis did it on land. Much safer.”

Kelce went on to reveal that he actually originally considered popping the question on the water, but he changed his mind after Brandon “warned” him.

“I got warned, I got warned. I once thought I would do it on water but you did it. You showed heart,” Kelce said.

Needless to say, it sounds like Kelce is glad he didn’t go through with his original plan.
