Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are only two weeks into the 2025 season, but they’re faced with one of the year’s most important games. After losing to the Los Angeles Chargers last week in Brazil, the Chiefs could fall to 0-2 with a loss in their second game.
The Chiefs are also facing the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2, meaning that the game is a rematch of the most recent Super Bowl. The Eagles embarrassed the Chiefs back in February, ending their hopes at an unprecedented three-peat.
Defeating the Eagles is the No. 1 priority on Sunday, but it’s far from the only big moment in Kelce’s life. The Pro Bowl tight end proposed to Taylor Swift several weeks ago, and he talked about getting engaged ahead of the big game.
During an interview with FOX’s Erin Andrews, Kelce revealed when the proposal to Swift took place, and how he felt on the big day.
Kelce’s Emotions During the Proposal
Kelce acknowledged that there were “a few tears here and there” because he’s an “emotional guy,” and said that his palms were sweating.
The three-time Super Bowl champion said that he proposed to Swift after she made an appearance on his “New Heights” podcast. As Kelce filmed the episode with Swift and his brother Jason, he had a crew set up the proposal scene in his backyard.
Kelce asked Swift to have a glass of wine before dinner, and made the decision to get on one knee and present the ring.
“You gotta know your gal … and you can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you gotta do it that way,” Kelce said on the first “New Heights” episode after making the proposal.
“You might be able to get some ideas from how other people did it. It might get the creative juices flowing. But know your partner, know who you’re doing it for. Everything else will be beautiful.”
Kelce Is Looking Forward to the Future
“It’s been an exciting ride up to this day,” Kelce told Andrews during the interview. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”
Swift and Kelce have supported one another during their relationship. She’s appeared at several Chiefs games – including the last two Super Bowls, and Kelce has appeared at and participated in some of her concerts.
On the field, Kelce will look to improve on his performance from Week 1 against the Chargers. He scored a touchdown, but inadvertently ran into a teammate and received a personal foul for an altercation with an opponent.
The Chiefs will look to earn their first win of the season when they face the Eagles on Sunday afternoon in Kansas City.
