Tron: Ares Plot, Cast, and Music
Taking place after the first two Tron films, the new movie focuses on an AI program named Ares (Jared Leto), designed as a security unit, but with a twist. As the trailers reveal, Ares and other Programs make their way into the real world. This marks a first for the Tron franchise insofar as the two previous films were about humans entering the digital realm; this movie flips all of that on its head.
The movie also stars Greta Lee as Eve Kim, a programmer who helps Ares. Gillian Anderson as Elisabeth Dillinger, a relative of Edward Dillinger, the original villain from the first film. Jodie Turner-Smith stars as Athena, another program like Ares. Jeff Bridges is also back as the character Kevin Flynn, the video game programmer who, along with Bruce Boxleitner’s Tron, was the hero of the first film. No word yet if Boxleitner or the character of Tron will appear in Tron: Ares.
Tron: Ares is directed by Joachim Rønning and will feature a new soundtrack from Nine Inch Nails.
