The classic phrase about breakfast being the most important meal of the day has a different slant. Protein, protein-packed and protein-infused foods are a priority. Tropical Smoothie Café responded to this food trend. These new menu items are designed for people’s busy lives.
Breakfast gets a big protein boost.
According to the International Food Information Council’s annual survey on American’s perceptions of protein, 71% of respondents actively pursued protein to help fuel their busy lifestyle. From sustained energy to overall eating satisfaction, the nutrient has taken over the food conversation.
Tropical Smoothie Café responds to consumers’ demands with its new menu items. The new offerings feature up to 32 g of protein. The new options are Peanut Paradise Smoothie, PB Protein Crunch Bowl, Egg & Cheese ‘Dilla, Mixed Berry Greek Yogurt Bowl and All American Wrap.
The new food offerings are available at participating Tropical Smoothie Café restaurants. Protein amounts in each menu item are based on the original restaurant recipe. Guests should check with each location for availability and pricing.
Why did Tropical Smoothie Café join the protein trend?
According to Deborah von Kutzleben, Chief Marketing Officer of Tropical Smoothie Café, LLC, “With the end of summer approaching, our guests are diving back into packed schedules, from school drop-offs to early morning meetings. They’ve been asking for more high-protein, on-the-go options, and this lineup delivers – combining craveable flavor with functionality, all made with the quality ingredients they expect from Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
Looking at the new protein-packed food offerings, the PB Protein Crunch Bowl has the most protein at 32 g. The base recipe starts with Chobani Greek Yogurt, which is blended with peanut butter and honey. It is topped with banana, almonds, cacao nibs, granola, chia seeds and a peanut butter drizzle. Additionally, the bowl can be customized with Nutella drizzle, fruit and other toppings.
While packed with protein, the bowl feels indulgent. The crunchy texture adds to the eating satisfaction, and the dish is quite rich. It would require a hearty appetite to finish it all.
The Peanut Paradise Smoothie is a more traditional offering from Tropica Smoothie Café. Made with peanut butter, banana, non-fat yogurt and the choice of pea or whey protein, the drink has between 30 g and 22 g of protein. While it might not necessarily be an innovative food choice, it does deliver the protein centric option that many people crave.
Overall, Tropical Smoothie has found a way to showcase a popular food trend. By combining convenience with craveable flavor, the protein-packed menu is guaranteed to be a hit.
