“Colombian President Gustavo Petro is a drug trafficking leader who encourages mass drug production, both large and small, throughout Colombia. It has become, by far, the largest business in Colombia, and Petro does nothing to stop it, despite large-scale payments and subsidies from the US,” Trump said in a statement. Truth Social.

“Starting today, these payments, or any other form of payment or subsidy, will no longer be made to Colombia. The purpose of this drug production is the massive sale of products to the United States, causing death, destruction and havoc,” added the US president.

Furthermore, he threatened that if Petro did not close “these extermination fields immediately,” the United States “will close them.”

Trump’s statements come a month after the United States removed Colombia from the list of countries that fight against drugsalong with four other nations, for having “manifestly failed” to comply with their obligations under international anti-narcotics agreements in the last year.

In response, Petro stated that the Military forces of their country would stop depending on the US weapons.
US military vessels in the Caribbean Sea
This decision also occurs in the middle of the “armed conflict” that the United States recently declared against drug traffickingand which has included the bombing of up to six alleged drug trafficking vessels in the Caribbean Sea.
The United States deployment in the Caribbean, which began in August under the justification of combat drug trafficking near the coast of Venezuelaincludes the use of planes and ships by the North American country.
