Trump confirms the validity of the ceasefire in Gaza and Vance reveals a visit to Israel news

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the ceasefire between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) is still in place, after Israel launched dozens of raids on targets in Gaza, accusing the movement of attacking its forces.

“Yes, it is,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One when asked if the ceasefire was still in place, indicating that the Hamas leadership was not involved in any violations, and he blamed “some rebels within the movement,” as he described it.

He added, “But in any case, the matter will be dealt with as it should be. It will be dealt with firmly, but as it should.”

Yesterday evening, Sunday, Israel announced the cessation of its strikes in Gaza and the re-implementation of the ceasefire, after it launched raids on targets it said were Hamas, accusing it of attacking its forces, in the most violent escalation since the truce came into effect 9 days ago.

The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip said that the Israeli raids killed 45 people, while the Israeli occupation army reported the killing of two of its soldiers in clashes in Rafah, south of the Strip.

Trump expressed his hope that the ceasefire he helped reach would hold, and said, “We want to make sure that things go very peacefully with Hamas.”

“As you know, they were rioters. They opened fire, and we think their leaders probably had nothing to do with it,” he added.

Al-Qassam denies its connection to the events

The Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Hamas movement – issued a statement in which it affirmed its full commitment to implementing everything that was agreed upon, most importantly a ceasefire in all areas of the Gaza Strip.

She said in the statement, “We are not aware of any events or clashes taking place in the Rafah area, as these are red zones that are under the control of the occupation.”

Al-Qassam indicated that contact with its remaining groups there has been cut off since the return of the war last March, and it has no information whether they were martyred or are still alive since that date.

It confirmed in its statement that it has nothing to do with any events occurring in those areas, and it cannot communicate with any of its members there if any of them are still alive.

Prior to Trump’s statements, his vice president, J.D. Vance, downplayed the importance of renewed violence in Gaza, and told reporters that there would be “interruptions” in the truce, adding that “Hamas will fire on Israel, and Israel will be forced to respond.”

He added that the ceasefire holds every chance to achieve sustainable peace, but even if this is reached, there will be fluctuations and we will have to monitor the situation.

The truce in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10, ending more than two years of a devastating war launched by Israel against the Gaza Strip, during which tens of thousands of Palestinians were martyred, at a time when a large part of the Gaza Strip was turned into rubble.

Vance called on the Gulf states to establish a “security infrastructure” with the aim of ensuring the disarmament of Hamas, which is an essential part of the peace agreement. He said, “The Gulf states, our ally, do not yet have the necessary security infrastructure to ensure the disarmament of Hamas.”

He indicated that a member of the Trump administration will visit Israel in the next few days to monitor the situation. While he did not confirm the identity of this person, he said, “It could be me.”
