Yesterday, Monday, the process of demolishing part of the White House to build a ballroom and celebration hall that President Donald Trump wants to build began, thus launching one of the largest construction workshops in the building in more than a century.

Trump said in a post on his “Truth Social” social media platform, “I am pleased to announce that work has begun at the White House to build the new, large, wonderful ballroom.”

Agence France-Presse quoted reporters as saying that they saw bulldozers demolishing the part located in the eastern wing of the presidential residence.

The area of ​​the new celebration hall is scheduled to exceed 8,000 square meters and accommodate up to a thousand people, in a project whose completion costs are estimated at $250 million.

According to Trump, this hall will be used for major dinners held in honor of foreign heads of state, as well as for other major occasions.

According to scale models of the project, the huge white building with very high windows will be built on the site of the current East Wing where the First Lady’s offices are usually located.

Yesterday, Trump expressed his happiness that this wing is undergoing a “comprehensive modernization” and “it will be more beautiful than ever once the work is completed.”

The Republican President confirmed that the construction of this hall will be entirely funded by donations coming from, in particular, “generous patriotic” Americans and wonderful companies.

The White House has been the residence and work of American presidents since 1800. The first person to reside there was the country’s second president, John Adams.
