President Donald Trump has threatened to arrest a man who is the favorite to be New York City’s next mayor and strip him of his US citizenship.
Zohran Mamdani, 33, a democratic socialist, hours after officially winning the Democratic primary for mayor on Tuesday, defied Trump after amid a series of warnings from the Republican president.
‘The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported,’ wrote Mamdani on Instagram.
‘Not because I have broken any law but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorize our city.’
