Two Fan-Favorite CBS Shows Not Renewed – Bundlezy

Two Fan-Favorite CBS Shows Not Renewed

Two CBS shows face possible axing, after being excluded from the network’s latest flurry of TV show renewals.

This week, CBS renewed 10 additional shows for its 2026-2027 schedule. Two of its biggest recent hits — the Young Sheldon spin-off-of-a-spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Matlock — were both given the green light for a third season.

Other shows, namely Elsbeth, NCIS: Sydney, and Tracker, are all returning for Season 4. Fire Country was renewed for Season 5, NCIS for Season 24, and its prequel, NCIS: Origins, was renewed for Season 3. The CBS reality shows The Amazing Race and Survivor received orders for seasons 38 and 51, respectively.

These additions will join previously-ordered shows FBI (renewed for Season 9) and Ghosts (renewed for Season 6), along with new shows Boston Blue and Sheriff Country, with both returning for a second season.

Two major CBS shows, however, have not made the cut so far. Although they have not been declared cancelled yet, their future seems pretty dismal at the moment. The fate of one comedy show and one drama hangs in the balance.

The medical detective drama Watson, starring Morris Chestnut in a modern take on the Sherlock Holmes character, has not been renewed by CBS. Watson brought in a record-breaking 18.7 million viewers in its series premiere back in January 2025, boosted by the AFC Championship Game.

However, the show has struggled since then, and according to Deadline, Watson now ranks as the lowest-rated scripted series on CBS. The outlet also reported that the network is likely “wait[ing] to see how Watson performs after its March 1 return.”

The workplace sitcom DMV, while not a critical darling with a 65% Rotten Tomatoes score, has been more successful with viewers. The show ranked No.9 among all broadcast series for CBS’ Oct. 12-19 premiere week with 10.1M Live+35 Day multi-platform viewers, according to Deadline. The entertainment reporter did state, however, that while Live+Same Day linear ratings have remained steady, its delayed multi-platform viewing has declined.
