Nueva violation of NATO territory airspace by Moscow. Two Russian military planes entered Lithuanian airspace this Thursday for about 18 seconds, the Baltic country’s army reported in a statement.
The two aircraft, a Su-30 fighter and an Il-78 tanker, were possibly on a refueling training mission when vThey violated the border, entering Lithuania from the Kaliningrad region.
In response, Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft of the NATO Baltic Air Police were deployed and are patrolling the area, the Lithuanian Army said.
Lithuania has recently experienced numerous violations of its airspaceor, including raids Russian drones and sightings of military aircraft.
In response, it has intensified aerial surveillance and authorized its forces to shoot down drones that violate airspace, in addition to receiving interceptions of NATO aircraft on its border.
Recently, Vilnius airport had to temporarily close in the night from last Tuesday to Wednesday due to the presence of tobacco smuggling balloons.
