A-Level Results Day 2025 is upon us, and now students across the UK are panicking and preparing to apply to unis through clearing. The good news is that universities seem just as desperate to acquire freshers as sixth-formers are to acquire university offers. Lots of unis across the UK are offering new incentives to students who apply through clearing, ranging from free laptops, to deals on accommodation, to actual cash.
If these deals aren’t enticing enough, you can still get plenty of free food at restaurants on A-Level Results Day.
So, here are all the UK unis that are offering bonus incentives to students who apply through clearing in 2025.
University of Brighton
They’re guaranteeing accommodation for students. People who apply through clearing can apply for the Brighton Summer Boost, and potentially get financial support up to £700.
University for the Creative Arts (UCA)
So, students who live with their parents during their degrees get smaller maintenance loans. To help cover the costs of travelling from home to campus, UCA is offering a bursary of up to £700 to freshers who apply for clearing, and won’t be living in uni accommodation.
University of East London
The uni is handing out £500 cash to students who sign up to courses through clearing. Really.
Goldsmiths, University of London
You too could stroll through the dramatic main entrance at Goldsmiths *jazz hands*
If you sign up to Goldsmiths through clearing, you can apply before 29th August for their Clearing Accommodation Bursary. The uni can give you £1,800 to help with the cost of accom in your first year.
Middlesex University
Yup, students who get places here through clearing can apply until 23rd August for Clearing Starter Kits, which “could provide essential resources for eligible new students” and are apparently worth up to £1,000. The uni can loan you a laptop for free.
University of Northampton

They’re guaranteeing accommodation for clearing applicants. And handing out either a free laptop or a discount on accommodation. And offering the Northampton Employment Promise – if grads don’t get a job within six months, the uni with will give them six months of support from a Careers Development Consultant, then arrange a paid internship if they’re still stuck.
Queen Mary University of London
This Russell Group uni is guaranteeing accommodation to students who apply through clearing. A fair few unis across the UK are offering that, but this is extra helpful in London, since finding somewhere affordable to live in London can be a nightmare for students.
University of Sussex
Students who join through clearing could be eligible for a £1,000 bursary. The Uni of Sussex will guarantee you accommodation if you accept a place through clearing within 48 hours of getting an offer, and you apply or housing by 5pm on 19th August.
