We’ve all been waiting for Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) to drop the clanger that would destroy his Emmerdale wedding, but it turns out we’re about to be blindsided by an admission from Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).
Vinny has been hiding that he’s been questioning his sexuality and whether he even wants to marry Gabby. While he tried to figure things out, he contacted a sympathetic man via an internet chatroom.
He turned out to be an extortionist who blackmailed Vinny over admitting he might be gay and took him for every penny while leaving him with a nasty beating.
Gabby, meanwhile, has been blindly preparing for her big day, unaware of Vinny’s struggles and more bothered by the fact her own mum wouldn’t be there.
‘I think she’s really, really excited’, Rosie Bentham said.
‘It’s been a long time coming. Her and Vinny’s relationship has been going at 100 miles per hour. When they first decided to give it a go it was quite different for Gabby to have someone she’s already friends with and she had a past friendship with Liv, so we didn’t really know how it was going to go. But it’s been really successful so far.
‘This is obviously her second go at being a fiancée and I think she wants the dream wedding with all of his family there and friends and stuff like that.
‘I think she’s always wanted a big, princess-style wedding but with everything that’s gone on – Gabby’s had some issues with her health recently and the car crash – she’s grounded herself about what’s actually important and she just wants to marry Vinny now and hopefully then live happily ever after.’
She’s in for a shock when Bernice (Samantha Giles) suddenly rocks up. As the big day arrives, Gabby makes her blissful entrance down the stairs in her beautiful bridal gown, much to the awe of her bridal party, none the wiser of Vinny’s turmoil.
Before she can get too far, her own turmoil hits full force as her mum crashes the party – and Gabby is not in the least amused by the surprise arrival.
She’s even less pleased when Bernice drops a bombshell about the huge secret Gabby has been keeping all this time – these two lying lovebirds are made for each other.
Gabby tells Vinny that they need to talk, four words that put the fear of God in him. He’s terrified, still messed up from the lies he’s been holding too. She arrives and tells him that something has been wrong, and it’s been wrong for a while.
But in a shock move, she does not call the wedding off, and no one is more surprised than Bernice. Instead, she ploughs ahead and is delighted when Arthur offers to walk her down the aisle.

Gleeful Gabby gets ready for her aisle walk, but when she arrives at the altar, she is horrified to learn from Kammy that Vinny is a no show. Has the guilt got him?
‘Whether they get married or not I think there’s a lot that needs delving into, and some secrets that need to come out and need to be talked about’, Rosie added, teasing what’s ahead.
‘Whether they try to sweep things under the carpet or address it there and then, I hope Gabby gets her happy ever after. She does deserve it. I think she needs someone who is really going to make her feel safe and secure.
‘Hopefully she concentrates on being a mum to Thomas as well, and being a good businesswoman. I think there’s a lot more to come in Gabby’s personal aspects as well.’
