The University of Leeds has risen nine places in the Guardian University Guide 2026 Rankings.
Climbing the ratings to 28th, the university’s subjects made the top 10 of their respective tables.
This includes: Children’s nursing (6th), journalism (7th), media and film studies (7th), electrical and electronic engineering (8th), social work (8th), general engineering (9th) and dentistry (10th).
The university also came 11th nationally in terms of money spent on each student, scoring 7.3 on the Guardian’s rating.
It had a rating of 85.4 for students satisfied with their teaching, and 84 per cent of recent graduates were either in employment or in further study after 15 months.
However, in terms of student satisfaction with assessment feedback, Leeds came 13th from the bottom of the table.
The Guardian’s rankings are designed to help prospective students and families find out which universities will give their students the best experience.
It gives each university scores based on eight different factors such as student satisfaction, student-to-staff ratios, and how many students find graduate-level jobs after completing their degree.
The rankings also include what students say about their teaching and feedback in the annual National Student Survey.
These factors resulted in Leeds scoring 62/100 overall, placing it 0.3 points behind Sunderland and tying with Birmingham and Chichester.
Leeds Trinity rose t0 76th, up 29 places since last year.
Leeds Beckett rose one place from 2024, with a position of 101st this year.
The top five rankings were Oxford, St Andrews, Cambridge, London School of Economic, and Durham.
The University of Manchester and the University of York both ranked below the University of Leeds this year.
The Guardian’s guide is a separate assessment from other major UK league tables like the Complete University Guide, which has its own methodology.
