High street fashion giants are recalling some of their popular children’s clothing over a ‘risk of strangulation’.
The Miss Summer children’s clothing range sold by the retailers Next and Matalan has decorative cords that are too long.
The design fault means the cord could become wrapped around a child’s neck and strangle, choke or trap them, a product recall notice says.
Miss issued a recall last month, with Next asking customers to stop their children from wearing them and return the product for a full refund.
Parents can pop into the store to do so or arrange a collection over the phone or through their online Next account.

Matalan issued a similar recall of Miss clothing on Friday, which includes Bohemian dresses and knitted tops sold between April 11 and June 2.
The notice states: ‘Owners of the product should cease use immediately and return to Miss for a full refund.
‘To return the product, please create a returns label at the following website: https://www.royalmail.com/track-my-return#/details/4822.’

The Office for Product Safety and Standards added that if shoppers can’t print out the label, they should contact Matalan’s customer service team.
The clothing sets have been removed from the Next and Matalan websites, now returning error messages when clicked.
Product safety officials say the cords ‘exceed the maximum permissible length’ allowed by the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
It’s not just clothing that UK shoppers have been asked to return. Co-op recalled its pork pies earlier this week after they were found to contain an unlisted allergen, milk.
Cheese lovers in Northern Ireland were also warned this week not to eat a batch of goat’s cheese by the supermarket chain SPAR, as officials found it contained Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
Most people who get sick from food tainted with listeria suffer flu-like symptoms – fever, diarrhoea, vomiting – for a few days.
