Ecatepec de Morelos, Mexico. Hundreds of piperos of unions such as USON and 25 de Marzo, which controlled wells and illegal water intakes that they extracted without paying, together with figures linked to federal deputy Fernando Vilchis, carried out this morning a blockade in nine main road points of the municipality as a measure of pressure to release the sources of supply that left millionaire profits for their leaders, which prevented the transfer of thousands of people to their jobs or studies.
The protesters are largely members of the Union of Trade Unions and National Organizations (USON) and of March 25 Unionwhose leaders are Misael Rodríguez Fragoso and Guillermo Fragoso Báez, who is a fugitive because there is an arrest warrant against him.
Additionally, in some points operators and people linked to the PT federal deputy have been detected, Fernando Vilchis Contreras, as a subject named Luis Manuel Monroy Salgado located in the closures of Vía Morelos in the Xalostoc area.
The blocked roads are via Morelos and La Costeña; López Portillo at the height of the DIF; National Avenue at the height of Venta de Carpio; Texcoco-Lechería highway at the height of the Macroplaza; Avenida R1 on its corner with Periférico Oriente and Via Morelos at the height of the Greek “Y”.
Avenida Resources and Ciprés are also blocked; R1 and Bulevar de los Aztecas and Avenida Central and UNiTEC, so thousands of people could not reach their various destinations due to lack of transportation.
In the operation registered on Friday by the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office in 48 municipalities, the so-called “herons” were closed; clandestine taps from which they extracted water from the municipal hydraulic infrastructure without paying for it, to do business with the vital liquid.
In Ecatepec alone, 9 clandestine taps were closed, 9 properties were secured, a well, and 44 private pipes.
Guillermo Fragoso, former councilor from 2019-2024, during the period of former mayor Fernando Vilchis, he controlled the business of water huachicoleo in Ecatepec, whose pipes were sold at a premium of 1,200 to 2 thousand pesos per pipe.
Although state authorities have offered dialogue to the protesters, there is a rejection until they have instructions from their leaders, as they have indicated at different points.
