Coronation Street’s Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) has told Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) that she needs to split up with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), unaware of the real reasons why she is seeing him.
Megan, a sports coach, is currently abusing teenager Will. He believes he’s in a relationship with an older woman and because he finds this exciting and doesn’t understand the reality, he follows Megan’s orders and believes everything she says.
To prevent anyone from getting suspicious of her, Megan has started seeing Daniel. Now Will knows Megan is pregnant with his baby, he has decided she needs to split up with the school teacher, so they can focus on what’s ahead.
In the Bistro, Megan sat down with Daniel and had every intention of ending their relationship. However, when Daniel mentioned Will, her plan quickly changed.
Daniel has observed Will with Megan while at school and thinks that this, along with the fact he vandalised a car recently, means he needs reporting to Crawshaw. Megan knew that if this happened, it would increase the chance of Will telling Crawshaw about her, and therefore the secret getting exposed.
Megan told Daniel it was a bad idea, and distracted him by saying that she feels like she’s falling for him.
In future episodes of the show, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) gets suspicious when Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) shows Megan a boy’s tracksuit top she found in the flat. Megan claims it is Daniel’s. But Sam’s clearly not convinced…
On the street, Sam corners Will with the energy of a Faithful at a Traitors round table and asks him if there’s something going on between him and Miss Walsh. Lying, Will makes out it’s a ridiculous notion and heads off…. Then Sam spots the tracksuit top in Will’s sports bag. Does he have the evidence he needs?
In the Rovers, a rattled Will warns Megan how Sam suspects them of having an affair. Alarmed, Megan finds Sam doing his homework in Speed Daal. Will she tackle him?
Executive producer Kate Brooks previous revealed how Sam would become embroiled in the storyline and the toll it takes on his mental health.
‘It’s a very important story to tell and we want to be as truthful as possible. As part of that story Sam will end up getting embroiled in it all. Sam is semi-related to the pub family and he potentially gets wind that something’s amiss.
