Dirk Große-Loheide, the previous procurement director for the core VW brand, will vacate his post at the end of the month. This decision is part of a long-term planned age regulation, as the group announced in Wolfsburg. Große-Loheide, who has been working at VW since 1990 and has held the position of Procurement Director since 2023, will be replaced by Karsten Schnake. Schnake, who currently serves as Škoda’s chief procurement officer, will take on his new role from November.
The change in the board comes at a critical time as the global automotive industry struggles with semiconductor supply bottlenecks. These shortages have led to production delays and a decline in vehicle availability. However, VW emphasizes that the change in the procurement board was planned independently of the chip crisis and will have no immediate impact on overcoming the current challenges.
In addition to this change, former VW boss Herbert Diess is also leaving the group for good. Diess, who was most recently the highest-paid manager at VW, is retiring. His contract ends on his 67th birthday and he will begin receiving retirement benefits on October 25th.
